Can twitter break more often?

Posted by LL Cool C | Posted in Technology | Posted on 30-06-2008

So today I want to send out some tweets via twitter. Sorry, site down.  So I wait.  I come back an hour later,  sorry, site down again.  I’m not a twitter fiend like some are.  I can go without, but when I wanted to tweet where was it?

Poor Analogy time: Last summer I always went to this snow cone stand.  It had the greatest snow cones.  The hours of service were from 2pm to 11pm daily.  A couple times I went at 9pm and they were closed.  What did I do.  I stopped going.  I couldn’t rely on it when I wanted it most.

Is that what is coming next for twitter.  Are people going to get too tired of it not working that they will stop posting.  I think that will be the case for some.  This guy included.  Will that affect twitter.  I don’t think they will mind the downturn in users temporarily while they get their servers in order.  Then when they are more reliable people will come back.  Maybe even this guy.

Is hip hop helping our kids in school?

Posted by LL Cool C | Posted in music | Posted on 29-06-2008

I know, you are wondering what subject hip hop is helping the kids with.  Your first thought might be math.  With all those hundreds being thrown around in the videos surely you are talking about math, right LL?  No, math isn’t the subject that I am referring to, but that is a good guess.

I’m referring to spelling.  There has always been spelling is rap/hip hop but lately there seems to be a plethora of songs that have spelling in it.  Here are a few of some popular songs right now that include the lost art of spelling.

  1. Independent by Webbie featuring Lil’ Boosie & Lil’ Phat:  “I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T Do you know what that mean mane?”
  2. Damaged by Danity Kane: ” Can you fix my H-E-A-R-T. (Tell me can you fix my heart?)‘Cause it’s D-A-M-A-G-E-D.(Don’t you know it’s damaged?) Can you fix my H-E-A-R-T.

Sure these are examples of a select couple of songs that have spelling in them, and there are many others, but is there an artist who spells in nearly every song they have?  Yes there is.  His name is Snoop Dogg.  That’s why we would like to give a “Lifetime Spelling Achievement Award” to Mr. Dogg.  He constantly reminds us how to spell his name S-N-O-O-P  D-O-G-G, sometime referred to as S-N-double O-P  D-O-Double G.

Thank you Mr. Dogg for doing your part in helping to shape American minds.  May we never forget how to spell your name.

3G iPhone: More or less then what you expected?

Posted by LL Cool C | Posted in apple | Posted on 10-06-2008

I am all for the 3G iPhone.  I’m getting one right when they come out, but did you want something more like I did?  Is it because I was fed so many “official” specs and so many spyshots on various sites that I “knew” what was coming out?  The things that I knew because of all of the “official” info was 3G and GPS.  After that I thought anything else would be icing on the cake.  Don’t get me wrong the improved battery life and the new apps that were demoed, especially games, got me excited, but nothing like another feature that I didn’t expect.

Recording video on the camera would have been nice.  Cut and paste would have been a much needed and expected feature.  More storage would have helped with the increasing media needs, but the one feature that would have been worthy of the “one more thing” Jobism would be Video conferencing.  Just think over a newly minted 3G iPhone talking to your peeps like they were there in front of you, well if your friends were 3.5 inches tall.  This would have been a killer app for the iPhone.

Am I expecting too much?  Possibly so, but with so many information leaks about the features that it already had, the video conferencing would have truly made my day.  What other features were you expecting or wanting?

Apple's WWDC Tomorrow: New iPhone's?

Posted by LL Cool C | Posted in apple | Posted on 07-06-2008

For many an Apple fan, tomorrow is a national holiday. Tomorrow is the beginning of the Apple World Wide Developer Conference, WWDC and Steve Jobs is the headlining speaker. What is so special about this conference you say? Well this one is special because the iPhone SDK will be shown and everyone is speculating a 3G version of the iPhone will be coming out. I’m going to make some predictions as well just so I can fit in with everyone else.

  1. The 3G iPhone will be announced with GPS and other goodies.  It would almost be more surprising if it is not announced.
  2. A smaller version of the iPhone will be announced.  I still think it will have a touch screen and many other goodies, but I don’t think it will have all of the goodies of the 3G iPhone.

I also think that other things will be announced, but I think the smaller iPhone version is what everyone will be excited about because it will compete head on with Nokia, Sony and Motorola.  I don’t have the iPhone yet, but I am looking forward to this new version.  I used to be a lot cooler before the iPhone came out.  When I didn’t get it, I lost major cool points.  Anyone else taking off time to follow the coverage?
